Several readers have written in to ask if exercises from Tai Chi tools, notably Tai Chi ruler, can be adapted for kettlebells.
Pictured above is my own personal 20 kg (44 pounds to you non-metric system types) kettlebell. I would NEVER ever teach with it or recommend it for special needs students. There is way too much danger of dropping on a foot (or, worse, on one’s head if the exercise involves lifting the kettlebell above your shoulders). Even if the toes are missed the kettlebell and the floor are not going to kiss delicately. There’s a serious concern with damage to wrists due to the weight. Note that many of these risks are present with a wooden tai chi ball – which lacks a handle and weighs probably 4 kilograms.
