The stainless steel cable ties shown above are usually used in exotic environments where temperature, sunlight (with ultraviolet radiation) or chemicals would rapid degrade common nylon cable ties.  There are three problems: (1) they cost 25 (twenty-five) times as much as common nylon ties; (2) they cannot usually be loosened (must cut to remove), and (3) using them to attach a D-ring or something similar makes it difficult to prevent the cable tie from sliding up and down the handle.
